E-Marking

  • PENKO E-Marking software helps to ensure that production follows European weight rules but to also saves your business products and money. The E-Mark indicates that packages are filled or checked on weight by making use of an e-marking protocol. The E-marking protocol allows for a batch of packages, below 10kg, to be on average filled with the weight stated on the package, therefore allowing some products to be underfilled or overfilled.

E-Marking Registration Software and E-Marking Analyzer

With PENKO E-Marking software it is easy to monitor the weight of each item in production and ensure it is over or underfilled within limits, therefore saving product and saving money overall.

At PENKO, we ensure that E-Marking protocols are successfully executed according to your agreements that are made with the local government in the countries where production is based. These agreements often look at the tolerance of weights for underfilling, how to execute the E-Marking protocol, how to guarantee the E-Marking protocol, etc.

There are four main requirements for E-Marking:

    • The weight of which a package should be filled on average. For example, when ℮ = 1kg, the average weight of the packages should be 1kg or higher
    • The protocol allows for having max. 2.5% of all your packages in one batch to slightly underfilled
    • Only packages up to 10kg can be filled under E-Marking protocol
    • The E-Marking installation needs to be certified by a notified body or an accredited institution

Recording E-Marking data is also required and for this, PENKO offers an E-Marking registration software.

    E-Marking registration software

PENKO offers two E-Marking registration software solutions:

    • E-Marking module - which allows for recording the data in a specific way (e.g. a database)
    • E-Marking PC software - which will register the data on the PC

With PENKO E-Marking registration software, there are two ways of checking if filling is done according to the e-marking directive: checking every package or checking samples. How many samples and how often samples should be checked, needs to be discussed and agreed with the local government. If the produced batch doesn’t meet the agreed e-marking requirements, the complete batch will be rejected.

    E-Marking Analyzer

To present the data from the PENKO E-Marking software with a better overview, PENKO also offers the E-marking Analyzer. This extension shows an overview of the completed production whilst using the E-Marking protocol per day and per batch. Within the analyzer, it is possible to select a day and retrieve the corresponding production data. The data of that day is shown per hour (including the hours of not using the e-marking protocol) and per batch. In the batch overview you can easily see if a batch was approved or not by looking at the colors of the batches or in the column ‘approved or not’.

An additional feature of the extension program is the option to have the program automatically send you an email each day or once a week. The E-Marking production data will be sent as a .csv file attachment. With the transferring of the data to a .csv file, the color distinction for the batches is not transferred.
